OPEN FIELD TRIAL AWARD WINNER STRIGIDAE GIN
PRA/prcd, AMS and FN Hereditary Clear
Ginny is the little lady kept from Tia's second litter to FTCH Heolybwlch Denman, who was placed 2nd in the 2018 Cocker Spaniel Championship. Ginny has turned into a very mature young lady, being a strong retriever and fearless in cover. Living in the house doesn't stop this young lady from being a true joy to compete as well as being an important part of my picking up team and being her cheeky keen self during demonstrations and helping me on private lessons.
Having taken part in the Strigidae Gundogs demonstration at the Game Fair in July 2017 at only 16 weeks; Ginny showed she is a confident pup who is proving a joy to train being such a willing, biddable girl who doesn't miss a trick. She has been in the team demonstrations every year since and has always been a star showing what she can do without and fear or worry. Not only this, she allowed the audience to see that these special dogs can be taught more than hunting, by showing off her trick of giving a great hug!
Ginnys competition career has shown her heart and consistency in all terrains and weather. Her first year of competing in 2018 was meant to be her novice year and ended up running first time out in The Lincolnshire Gundog Society Open Cocker as they were short of dogs. This didn't faze her at all gaining third place and meaning no novice trials for Ginny! This allowed her to have another year to mature mentally and gain more experience on the shooting field.
In the 2019 season, Ginny was my main priority and first time out, with fabulous feedback from the judges we gained third place at the Mid Sussex Working Spaniel Club behind two A panel judges. We then were out on back to back trials, first in cover crop and bramble at the Bristol and West Working Gundog Club in Gloucestershire where Ginny gained 2nd and Guns Choice, we then travelled to Lincolnshire for the The Lincolnshire Gundog Society's Open Trial where we had thick solid bramble, eye wipe retrieves, blind retrieves in maize and so proudly finished 2nd and Guns Choice again. Unfortunately Ginny came into season shortly after this but I am so proud of what she gave me this year. She did not put a foot wrong just not the judges taste that day!
We managed to get out for one trial inbetween lockdowns at The Welsh and English Counties Spaniel Club, which was a truly beautiful day with great company. I couldn't have came second to a better man than my good friend; Jeremy Organ, who made his first Cocker to Field Trial Champion! And so pleased with Ginny for coming out and smashing it yet again.
Ginny's consistency of being in the top awards from a young age shows me honest, kind and with a heart of a Lion this little lady has. A perfect companion to my daughter, does everything with heart and honesty and a truly valuable member of my team.
