FIELD TRIAL CHAMPION
WINDWITHE SOLITAIRE OF STRIGIDAE
Third Place & Guns Choice - Double Qualified for 2019 Cocker Spaniel Championship
Fourth Place and Guns Choice - 2018 Cocker Spaniel Championship
Eddy is a phenomenal member of my team. In the 2018 season Eddy gained two second places; after two run offs for first place against tough competition to then win on ice in her third trial of the year at The Kintbury Gundog Club making her up to Field Trial Champion. She then went and double qualified for the Cocker Spaniel Championships 2019 by winning a second Open Stake & Guns Choice with The Spaniel Club at The Royal Windsor Estate. Eddy always shows her honesty and consistency with tidy handling and hunting to die for by adjusting her hunting pattern accordingly to the ground and weather conditions. At the 2019 Championships, based in Lauder, Scottish Borders, Eddy carried on her reliability of new conditions by having a tough first run in reeds and bracken, gaining four retrieves; including an eye wipe runner. On day two, Eddy had time to shine in her hunting by smashing through a variety of cover for 40 minutes without faltering and finally flushing a hen pheasant shot 50 yards infront. A very worthy third place was gained alongside Guns Choice, which always means a lot to Team Strigidae.
Not only does Eddy live in the house, she also has the odd night on the bed! This doesn't stop her giving everything she has in the field because this girl doesn't just compete, but is part of my picking up team, a joy to have on the peg and is my two year old daughter's best friend.
Eddy began competing in 2017 and did brilliantly on her debut at the Scottish Game Fair Working Test, gaining 2nd place and also top scoring Cocker Spaniel. In her first Novice Field Trial September 2017, she was the only Cocker running in a strong A/V stake on rabbits, with two 1 hour runs and sadly did not have the luck this time after all her efforts, gaining a worthy second place. She then received a very respectable fourth place and guns choice at a difficult Novice Trial hosted by Barton and Humber in October. Eddy then ran at the United Gundog Breeders Associations OPEN Cocker trial at Checkley Wood as an non-qualified dog, where she held her own and awarded 4th place.
On the 21st November 2017 Eddy won the Kintbury Gundog Club, Novice Cocker trial and awarded Guns Choice, making her a FIELD TRIAL WINNER.
We decided to go straight into Opens with how Eddy being consistent and her impressive confidence gave me so much strength. In December Eddy entered Dove Valley Gundog Club Open Cocker Stake where everything was thrown at her; thick snow, strong runners, tidy eye wipes and a wood full of birds! After our first nerve racking run off for 1st place, we were peeped to the post but came home with 2nd place and Guns Choice.
We had one final go for Opens at The Hampshire Gundog Society's Open Stake in Hampshire, where Eddy finally got her chance to truly shine and gaining FIRST and Guns Choice after a run off. Eddy become and Open Field Trial Winner and qualified for the Cocker Spaniel Championships 2018.

Eddy has gained a third and fourth in both her runs at The Cocker Spaniel Championships at Sandringham Estate 2018, producing an impressive 80plus yard retrieve in front of Her Majesty The Queen and Lauder, Scottish Borders 2019 proving a highly consistent and honest bitch. Both years, Eddy has come home with Guns Choice, which means so much to us.
Eddy and I have had mentions in many shooting magazines over the years. Please find the link below for the articles in The Shooting Times for The Cocker Spaniel Championships 2018 and 2019:
